If I have a brand, it’s keeping my head. Dispassionate analysis. The pursuit of understanding. Seeking much-needed perspective on the vicious combat and flagrant bullshit that’s constantly roiling our public life. Drawing on insights from philosophy, history, and political science to achieve some modicum of wisdom about it all.

But sometimes I just have to throw up my hands to say, this can’t possibly be the life I’ve chosen—to focus resolutely day after day, week after endless week on transparent bad faith, mindless idiocy, and toxic bilge.

This, my friends, is one of those times.
