I prefer written posts as well. I have hearing loss so listening is harder for me than reading. I tend to miss things when trying to listen to something and if you're listening it's hard to go back and listen again than it is to scroll back up and re-read something.

I love both kinds of posts but I can’t seem to play this from my app. It does work when I access it from the web.

This was a little rough, but I've no doubt that if you decide to do more of these, more consistently, you'll fall into a patter that will convey your voice quite well. Also, count me as a vote that you should find the time and occasion to go back to your abandoned post and come up with something to say about Douthat's approach to Deneen. For myself, I can't decide if it's audacious or oblivious for him to argue that Deneen's ruminations are actually "entirely compatible with the American constitutional order"; I can see his point in suggesting that Deneen, when you get down to his actual, practical recommendations, isn't flying any kind of integralist or whatever flag at all, but at the same time, can we really look at his "Aristotle by Machiavellian means" rhetoric as just "we are conservatives and we really mean it" posturing. I mean, maybe? Anyway, hope to read your thoughts on it sometime.

I have no idea why that appeared three times; sorry.

I find listening boring. I often fall asleep before the end. Please write less rather than speaking.

I enjoy audio posts, but I would request that if you plan to do this that you establish a feed so I can get them in my podcast player. I'm a 1.5x listener and the Substack player doesn't have that function.

There are podcasts aplenty, and I listen to some of them. But I much prefer to read your posts. Partly that’s because you’re a good writer, and partly it’s because a written post can be read at convenient moments of the day. In addition, reading something requires focused attention that, if the writing is concise and interesting, is more rewarding than listening to someone talk.

How about an option to download the audio?

Time stamps help. I wanted to find the Gonzales comments specifically.

Anyone else having an issue with the player in the iPhone app? Usually works but it’s saying the post length is 0. Works fine on website.

Side note: no speed controls appear for me in the app.

No on podcasts. Or at the very least provide an accurate transcript. A main reason i subscribe to your substance is the written word. As Nancy told us...just say no ;-)

Respectfully... and I do mean that literally... you ramble too much to rely on audio posts.
